Locate the measurement endpoints
A belt’s stated length may run to its tip, a middle hole or another point. Read the seller’s diagram and identify where the measurement begins at the buckle end. Compare it with a belt you wear comfortably or measure around the trouser loops at the position where you will wear it.
Check width, buckle and adjustment
Confirm strap width against your trouser loops and consider buckle dimensions as well as style. A pin-buckle design and a sliding or ratchet design do not have the same adjustment method. Ask for the usable range and check whether the selected option matches the buckle shown.
Do not assume the strap can be shortened
Some buckle constructions allow shortening; others do not. Confirm the method and any seller restrictions before choosing an overlong strap. A close-up can show holes, edges and a buckle attachment, but it does not independently establish leather grade or metal composition.
